High Peak Liberal Democrats
Bill Newton Dunn MEP and Cllr Phil Knowles
As the clock ticks down to European Election Day East Midlands Spokesperson Phil Knowles has been out and about in South Leicestershire delivering leaflets, in town centres and coffee mornings, meeting and chatting with as many voters as possible.
Phil has also been visiting party members at their homes thanking them for their support in delivering leaflets and addressing personalised mailers. In addition Phil and his wife Mags have personally labelled 2000 mailers in under 24 hours.
Speaking on Sunday evening Phil said '' Campaigns are a team effort and we cannot under estimate the impact that having such a dedicated, hardworking and committed team contributes. I am so grateful for everything that our members and supporters are doing in helping us get the European message across and I know that they will continue to keep up the campaign right up to and including polling day. This really is the most important election for years. It is the election that will quite likely decide how our country will be viewed across Europe, indeed across the world stage for years to come''
Phil also thanked Harborough members and supporters for their continued generosity. '' In the last week we have received a cheque from one of our Oadby and Wigston Councillors for £100, a cheque for £100 from a Harborough member and a £60 donation from another Harborough member. The total was elevated to £300 when I was stopped in the street by one of our long standing members who took £40 from her purse and said put this towards winning Bills seat! ''
