High Peak Liberal DemocratsThe number of unemployed claimants in Cheadle constituency fell to 816 in April 2014, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics.
816 represents just 1.8% of economically active people aged from 16 to 64 in Cheadle constituency, and is 229 fewer than April 2013, and 38 fewer than March of this year.
Commenting after the figures were published, local MP Mark Hunter said:
'It is extremely welcome news that unemployment in our area continues to fall and that it is now at only 1.8%, a clear sign that the economic situation is improving for most people.
'Cheadle constituency has one of the lowest unemployment figures in the whole North West region and I am keen to see it drop further still. There is absolutely zero complacency amongst my Lib Dem colleagues and I as we continue working towards the creation of new jobs and encourage the tremendous growth of apprenticeships.'
