Vince Cable in Eastwood
On Thursday last week Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, came to Eastwood Hall, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire to meet local business people.
The meeting took place in the "Scargill Suite" which was used by the unions during the miners strike when what is now a hotel was the National Coal Board head office.
Vince Cable asked for the meeting so he could hear first hand how government can help East Midlands businesses. About a dozen business men and women took part in a question and answer session which concentrated on the difference in economic climate, and particularly housing costs, between London and Ashfield. Vince told the meeting that his department was investigating changes to the Help to buy scheme" whch would to mitigate the effects of anticipated interest rate increases.
After the general meeting Vince held one to one discussions with the individual businesses.
Vince also met Nottinghamshire County Councillors Keith Longdon and Broxtowe Borough Councillor Bob Charlesworth..
