High Peak Liberal DemocratsContra Vision Ltd, based in Bramhall, has invented, sells and licenses see-through graphic products that are now used worldwide, on the windows of buses, taxis, trains, shops, offices and other buildings, providing advertisements, signs, privacy glazing and many other functions. It has now won a Queen's Award for International Trade.
The Queen's Awards for Enterpriseare the UK's most prestigious business awards, given only to companies or individuals who are outstanding in their field. Previously known as the Queen's Awards to Industry, the first Awards were given in 1966. There are three categories of Queen's Award, International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.
Contra Vision have won the award for International Trade having grown overseas sales earnings 1084% over the last six years and increased exports as a percentage of total turnover from 35% to 80%.
The company, started trading in 1985, has 18 distributors located across the world from Europe to Australia and has 27 inventions patented or patent-pending and brought products to market worldwide. It undertakes significant market research to exploit new opportunities and has developed new products to ensure that international sales continue to grow.
Following a visit to Contra Vision, local MP Mark Hunter said:

This local company has shown the rest of the UK what is possible when you are innovative and have confidence in your products; taking them to the global marketplace.
