High Peak Liberal DemocratsThe Office of National Statistics' latest unemployment figures have revealed that just 1.5% of economical active people aged 16 to 64 in Cheadle constituency were claiming unemployment benefits in July 2014.
The 1.5% figure represents 679 local people out of work, down by 25 from June of this year, and 321 lower than July 2013.
Commenting on the figures, local MP Mark Hunter said:
'Unemployment in our area continues to fall; great for the local people that are finding new jobs to help support their families. The economic situation is getting better and businesses are using their new found confidence to take on new staff.
'My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will never rest on our laurels when it comes to jobs and the economy; I am continuing to work hard to encourage local businesses to make the most of the improving economic circumstances, and to consider creating new positions.'
