High Peak Liberal Democrats
Martin Garnett was duly selected as Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for the Erewash constituency at a meeting at Petersham Hall, Long Eaton, on Monday 1st September.Martin is an experienced candidate having previously fought the Erewash seat four times.
At his hustings speech Martin particularly noted his job as an Associate Professor in Pharmacy . This gives him experience in dealing with large public meetings, and also a scientific background.
Martin said "In our increasingly technological world we need more politicians who understand the technology which underpins our modern society and how we can use technology more effectively in society".
In addition to technology, Martin also emphasised his interest in medicine, transport and education. Martin is a school governor at Friesland in addition to his experience within the University and research sector.
Martin then went on to answer questions from the local party members on a wide range of topics before the selection vote, in which Martin was approved unanimously by the local party.
