High Peak Liberal Democrats
This weekend sees Liberal Democrat Federal Autumn Conference in Glasgow. As usual, LGBT+ Lib Dems are involved in a number of events and policy discussions:
Come see us at our Exhibition stall to join the organisation, to get involved in our campaigns etc.
Join LGBT+ Lib Dems for a fundrasing disco to raise much-needed cash for our Saint, Julian Huppert MP! We've been promised a mix of music which is eclectic and entertainingly cheesy. Tickets £10, £15 for a double ticket.
A fundraising dinner for our Saint, Jo Swinson MP. Tickets £45 and must be purchased in advance or reserved via 0141 931 5674.
Members only. Discussing the year gone by and the challenges ahead.
A brief main hall presentation in light of the Lib Dem policy on same-sex marriage being delivered in England, Wales and Scotland, and the work still to come on issues such as the spousal veto in England and Wales, mixed-sex Civil Partnerships, and Northern Ireland.
Details have been sent via email to our members, or ask at the LGBT+ stall.
Join LGBT+ Lib Dems, Liberal Youth and Lib Dem Women for a trip to nearby East Dunbartonshire. Again, details have been sent via email or ask at the LGBT+ stall. Transport is provided, along with a free curry buffet, and we'll have you back at the Conference around 8:45pm, well in time for Glee Club!
Includes commitments to "Focus on reducing discrimination against the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society; particularly on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, disability or ethnicity" and "Support an International LGBT Strategy, including a guaranteed right not to be discriminated against."
Includes an assertion that "There should be no bar towards consensual sexual activities between any number of adults."
Probably best to read the full paper, but this motion includes many things that LGBT+ Lib Dems support, including neutral gender markers on passports, restoration of "confiscated marriages" for trans people, and reviewing rules on blood donation.
