High Peak Liberal DemocratsStockport Homes has been voted the second best landlord in the country by readers of 24Housing magazine for the second year in a row.
A panel of housing experts nominated the arms-length management organisation into the top ten and this shortlist was then opened up to a public vote to decide on the final placings.
Commenting on the result, local MP Mark Hunter said:
'This is a terrific result for Stockport Homes, first to be named in the top ten, then to be named second for two years in a row. Stockport Homes is a small organisation in comparison to lots of the UK's social landlords and, as the final places were decided by public vote, their high final position shows both how excellent the service provided is and how much it is appreciated by local residents.
'The credit for this accolade must go to every employee of Stockport Homes who all work together and contribute to provide a great service for the people of Stockport and many who live in Cheadle constituency.'
Helen McHale, Stockport Homes Chief Executive said:
'Being identified as the number two social landlord by experts and the public alike is a great accolade. Stockport Homes is punching well above its weight to be named in the top ten social landlords, but to do it two years in succession shows how advanced it is in relation to providing customer orientated, cutting edge services. Our ambition remains to keep improving what we do, transforming lives not only in Stockport but in public services more generally.'
