High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP has told NHS bosses that Stepping Hill should become a Specialist Hospital as soon as possible. His call comes as the Healthier Together Consultation ends, and with one of the biggest revamps of healthcare services in Stockport now on the cards.
Commenting, Sir Andrew Stunell MP said -
"I want a stronger and better Stepping Hill, able to give the health care local residents need to the very highest standard possible. That means my vote goes for giving the Hospital specialist status. But I'm also saying I don't want years of delay and uncertainty. Let's get some clear decisions taken quickly, and get on with improving our local NHS straight away."
Lisa Smart, Prospective MP for Hazel Grove, and Andrew Stunell MP recently handed their petition to make Stepping Hill a Specialist Hospital to the Rt Hon Norman Lamb MP, Minister of State for Care & Support so that the Government is fully aware of the strength of local feeling on this issue.
Lisa Smart, Prospective MP for Hazel Grove, commenting on the success of the petitionsaid -
"This is the most popular petition we have ever run in Hazel Grove Constituency. I would like to thank every single one of the 1000 and more local people who have signed the petition. The support for Stepping Hill Hospital has been tremendous and the petition has certainly galvanised support from the local community."
