High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP is calling for Stockport schools to take part in Parliament Week, an annual programme of events and activities to inspire young people across the UK to participate in democratic life.
Andrew Stunell MP commented-
"I'm delighted that three of our local schools have already taken up the challenge of Parliament Week. It is a great opportunity for schools in Stockport to engage their pupils in democracy by putting on an event such as a debate, arrange a trip to Parliament or using the many interactive resources available on the Parliament Week website."
Sir Andrew wrote to all schools in the Hazel Grove constituency last week, urging them to get involved with Parliament Week 2014.
Parliament Week 2014 runs from 14th-20th November and will see schools from all around the country join in a week long programme of activities and events - all designed to inform, inspire and connect people with parliamentary democracy. Local schools taking part so far include Marple Hall High, St Christopher's, and High Lane Primary.
Part of this year's programme will focus on Do Democracy - a national social media campaign aimed at encouraging 16-24 year olds to get their voice heard in Parliament.
Schools wishing to take part can get more information from visit the schools page on the Parliament Week website.
