Policy Officer Phil Knowles with the presidential candidates at conference
From 'Land Tax and Economic Reform' through to calls that the ' lower income threshold for National Insurance should be raised so that employees who do not pay income tax are also exempt from paying National Insurance, while the upper income limit should be abolished.
Delegates in large numbers backed the motions prepared. It was the same story when the motion on Town Planning and Housing building was discussed along with a final debate entitled Getting Back on Track - A Rail Network for the 21st Century.
Cllr Phil Knowles who chaired the debates for the final time as Policy Officer before becoming the Regions new Vice Chairman from January 1st expressed his sincere thanks to those who had spent time putting together the individual motions and to everyone who took part in the debates.
