Nothing really, except that, if you are Nick Clegg, the electorate throws the book at you, whilst, if you are David Cameron, nobody seems to bother very much.

The lesson?

Don't promise what you can't deliver, especially if you are a Liberal Democrat. If you're a Tory, promise what you like. You'll probably get away with it!
