High Peak Liberal DemocratsIsn't it ironic that, when David 'no ifs, no buts' Cameron pledges in 2010 to cut immigration by significant amounts and fails, nobody seems to want to put the boot in and yet, when the Lib Dems pledge to scrap tuition fees and fail, the voters throw the book at us! 'C'est la vie', as they say.
I have often seen Mr Leslie on TV. He is one of the many oleaginous political performers we see on our screens whose arguments and proposals can best be described as 'smoke and mirrors'. Perhaps I am not the only person who is not persuaded by him. Back in 2005, at the height of the Blair charm offensive, the voters of Shipley dispensed with his services, preferring (just) that 'paragon' of liberalism, Mr Philip Davies.
Are he and his party incompetent or mendacious, David Walker wonders. I would say BOTH. The real question is whether the people whose vote Labour is blatantly targeting in 2015, the students, will fall for this ruse, as they did for our 'pledge' back in 2010. If they do again, I really do wonder whether some of them are smart enough to benefit from higher education!
