"I want to make sure other people don't go through what I did. That's why, even though it's hard and painful, I'll always speak out." - Nicky

Nicky's flat was vandalised, her fuse box tampered with and she was called names when she left the house. Too scared to go home, she started living on a friend's sofa. Despite reporting it all to the police, nothing was done.

With an estimated 170 disability hate crimes happening every day, and only 5 of those being reported to police, we need to act now.

Mencap is helping the police to recognise hate crime and deal with it correctly - donate now and help us make sure the next police officer responding to a report of hate crime knows exactly what to do.
