Act now to defend "The Human Rights Act"
On Wednesday, as we expected, the Conservatives used the Queen's Speech to announce plans to scrap the Human Rights Act.
They'll try and dress this up in different language, but make no mistake, they are planning to scrap a law that enshrines the right to a fair trial, protects gay rights and limits the power of the state to spy on its citizens.
The Government only has a majority of 12, so they know they have a fight on their hands. We can stop them scrapping the Human Rights Act, just like we did when we were in government, but we need to start now.
Here's three things you can do to help right now:
3) Share our message about protecting the Human Rights Act on Twitter or Facebook.
We're already working on our plan to try and beat the Conservatives' plan in Parliament, but to do that we first need to win the argument in public. You'll have seen already from some of the coverage in the media that we have a fight on our hands to protect the Human Rights Act.
But if we don't stand up and fight this plan, nobody else will. I hope you'll be part of it.
Thank you,

PS. We're gathering for a rally to protect the Human Rights Act at 12.30pm on Saturday. If you can join us, please do.
