Message Must be Loud, Clear and Positive

With the European Referendum on the horizon Cllr Phil Knowles has spoken out saying that the Liberal Democrats must take ownership of the debate and deliver the message to every home and business -'' the UK must stay at the heart of Europe and not be on the outside looking in!''

Phil Knowles continued ''I have already spoken to Senior Party Figures and made the point very clearly, we can't sit back and hope that the ''stay in'' message wins. We have to take this by the scruff of the neck and make sure that it does. It's not a time to sit back and hope. It's a time to speak out loud and clear.

"Time is not on our side, this has to be a priority. Across the East Midlands I will be at the forefront of the campaign and hopefully looking to help determine just how we will be structuring and coordinating with the National Plans.

"On doorsteps or in Focus. At social gatherings, political meetings or at work - we cannot step back, we must stay on the front foot. We must remind people of the contribution the European family has made to peace and the cooperation that has gone hand in glove. Underline just how many jobs rely on us being in the EU and the huge investment that comes to these shores as a result of being in the EU. Jobs and investment that delivers homes and security for families across the UK. We should not apologise for being committed to the EU, being pro EU is being pro UK.''
