Lib Dems in Hinckley and Bosworth are celebrating gaining the Barwell St Mary's Ward from Labour.
Lib Dem Shani Smith won 207 votes to Labour's 172. The Lib Dems have now also replaced Labour as the largest party on Barwell Parish Council.
Thanks to all members locally and in the region who helped. The result shows we can gain seats again and the Lib Dem fightback is underway in our region.

First of all - hearty congratulations to Shani Smith our new Parish Councillor in Barwell.

I hope that everyone will now see why we sent out so many pleas for help during the day. If we are to put right the damage inflicted on us in May we are all going to have to pitch in and go for every vote.
The interesting feature is of course the fact that in Barwell we are fighting the combined efforts of the Labour, Tory and UKIP parties.
We have long suspected that this is the case but their own carefully worded leaflet now spells this out.
I suggest we should now challenge the other parties to declare whether they are all on the same side - the losing side as it happens.
The fight back has begun !
