Clean Air. A right or just an Aspiration
Steps taken by the EU to seek improvements to air quality have been welcomed by Cllr Phil Knowles but he says this can only be seen as a starting point.
'The real work now starts. We have to pursue the matter both at local government level and a national level.
Questioning local authorities about monitoring equipment, enforcement and plans for the future. Pushing the national government for an adequate and workable support structure.
Asking Westminster what steps they are taking that will really pressurise the countries who are seen to be the heaviest contributors to air polution across the globe.
This is not a time simply for lip-service. It is a time for positive action.' Cllr Phil Knowles. Vice Chair East Midlands Region
