Carers UK is working with Julie Cooper MP to campaign to make hospital parking free for carers in England.
The more support we have, the more likely the Bill will be successful. #parkthecharges
Julie Cooper MP wants to introduce new legislation to Parliament which would exempt carers entitled to Carer's Allowance from NHS hospital car parking charges in England. Julie has an opportunity to raise this issue in Parliament through a Private Members' Bill which will be debated in the House of Commons on 30 October 2015.
We know that hospital car parking is a big issue for many carers. Visiting hospital with someone you care for is tough enough, without the stress of having to renew the parking ticket, the time it takes, and even just having the right change, not to mention the cost which can run into hundreds of pounds each year.
We think this is an important opportunity to make a real difference to carers, so we're calling on carers and organisations to join our Park the Charges campaign and show support for Julie's bill ahead of the debate on 30 October 2015.
Ask your MP to attend the debate on the Private Member's Bill and vote for the bill on Friday 30 October
