High Peak Liberal DemocratsEast Midlands Vice Chair Councillor Phil Knowles has been invited to visit the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) 999 Control Centre in Nottingham this Thursday 18 February 2016 and to meet top EMAS bosses.
EMAS bosses have arranged for Phil Knowles to spend some time at the various desks in the Control Centre, which will allow him the opportunity to observe first-hand how 999 calls are categorised and responded to. After which you will meet with the EMAS Director of Operations, Richard Henderson.
''This is the first of what I hope will be a series of meetings with NHS bosses who hold responsibility for the provision of care to the East Midlands Community. Yes there have been delays in Ambulance response times, Fire Engines used in South Leicestershire to deliver patients to hospital when no ambulance was available. This cannot however be accessed in isolation.
There is a need to understand the alleged difficulty in transfer of patients into the care of hospitals, situations about bed blocking and need for coordination with social/onward care and more.
All pieces of this complex jigsaw need to be considered if we are to have the fullest understanding of where the problems are, how each problem impacts on other parts of the NHS care provision. Only then' I suggest, can the full situation be addressed and improved'
