Brexit: A disaster for tourism warns ABTA

In a report published on 14 March the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) warns that leaving the EU would be a "disaster" for holiday makers and business travellers. Over 75% of Briton's holidays are taken in the EU and are covered by a number of regulations including:
- Financial protection for package holidays
- Compensation for flight delays
- Access to health cover through the European Health Insurance Card
- Caps on mobile phone charges
- 'Open skies' across the EU, resulting in more routes, more airlines, and lower fares
All of these could be at risk if the UK leaves the EU. ABTA also noted that uncertainty was weakening the pound against the euro causing a rise in cost for travellers aready.
