High Peak Liberal Democrats
With County elections for most areas now well under a year away, we are currently faced with the added possibility of a snap general election. While PM May has shied away from that possibility, there is no denying that the current melt down of the Labour party must make for a fabulously tempting target, not to mention the Tory's 15% lead in the polls. We have recently had fantastic wins in by-elections in Northampton and Hinckley; and we need to ensure that every party in our local area has the skills and depth of knowledge to repeat those successes. With recent rises in the polls, and with the political narrative in the country changing since the EU referendum, we need to make sure that East Mids Lib Dems are ready to take advantage of any opportunities.
The training day will be free to attend, and will have a full program of training for experienced and brand new campaigners alike.
Much of the training will be delivered by myself, Stuart Bray and Abi Bell from ALDC. We will be covering everything from Connect and data management to literature production, messaging, producing plans and assessing strengths and weaknesses within your organisation. We've also roped in a couple of extremely experienced and skilled canvassers to help raise all of our skills on the doorstep.
This is a huge opportunity for new activists to find out about how the Lib Dems campaign and why, and for experienced activists to brush up on skills and share best practices across the region.
A full schedule will be circulated shortly, along with details of the venue. In the meantime, please put August 20th in your diary! We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
