High Peak Liberal Democrats
Dear friend,
Sleaford holds very special memories for me.
It was in Sleaford that I launched the 1999 East Midlands European Election campaign. That campaign was my first ever election - and we won. I became the first Liberal parliamentarian elected anywhere in the East Midlands since 1931.
Another thing happened that day. On our way to the launch, whilst standing at Rauceby Railway Station a few miles outside Sleaford, I asked Miriam to marry me. She said yes.
So I'm enthusiastically backing our campaign in the Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election. Our candidate, Ross Pepper, is young, posiitve and energetic - and he has lead the local team for a number of years - growing the party dramatically along the way.
Ross and his team are determined to use this rare opportunity to grow the party further and lay the foundations for a rekindling of the long-established Lincolnshire liberalism.
I understand the regional party, led by the formidable Stuart Bray, has been in touch with you, asking for your help. I urge you to respond to that request. We don't have long - Polling Day is just 9 days away!
Showing your support by sending a book of stamps or a donation of any amount will really boost the team who has a lot of rural Lincolnshire ground to cover in a very short space of time. https://eastmidslibdems.org.uk/en/donate
Best of all, visiting the campaign and volunteering on the ground will mean our message will be carried across the constituency in this crucial period. There is always delivery and clerical jobs to do. You can join the team at 38 Electric Station Road, Sleaford, NG34 7QJ
Please do whatever you can in the next few days to help Ross and the whole team.
With very best wishes
Nick Clegg MP
Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands, 1999-2004.
