High Peak Liberal DemocratsMEPs will tell the UK that it can change its mind about leaving the EU even after Theresa May triggers Article 50 tomorrow.
The European Parliament resolution, set to be voted on next week, will stress the Government could still halt the process during the next two years of Brexit talks.
Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary Tom Brake commented:
"This confirms what the Liberal Democrats have been saying all along. It is still possible for the British people to stop a Hard Brexit and keep us in the Single Market.
"If they want, it will also be possible for the British people to choose to remain in the European Union.
"Democracy didn't end on 23rd of June, and the people must have their say over what comes next.
"Theresa May has chosen the hardest and most divisive form of Brexit, choosing to take us out of the Single Market before she has even tried to negotiate.
"Someone will have the final say over our new deal with Europe. It could be politicians or it could be the people. Liberal Democrats believe it should be the people in a referendum."
