High Peak Liberal Democrats
I am delighted to see that a "green light" has now been given to building a Police Response Hub somewhere in the High Peak area. This is exactly what is needed - a substantive police presence in North West Derbyshire. It is to be hoped that the plans can be approved, the funding put in place, and that real progress will be made as soon as is possible.
However, I have been contacted by people who live in New Mills to ask me to find out what is happening in their locality. The New Mills Police Station was closed in the spring of 2017 with a promise that alternative arrangements would be put in place. I understand that there is a small police presence, on occasion, at the New Mills Fire Station but that some people see this as a token gesture to the local people. I am being asked when and how a full police presence will be restored. I assure the good people of New Mills that this will be one of my priorities after 6th May.
Please do contact me if you want to discuss this matter further or indeed if you want to discuss any other matter. My telephone number is 07792 987890 and I can also be contacted by email at LibDemPCC@gmail.com
