Open Air Cinema in Hall Leys Park
Hall Leys Park Matlock came alive to the sounds of ABBA with the screening of the hit musical Mamma Mia. The park filled up from 6pm onwards and, as the sun set, the film began.
Over 400 residents enjoyed the film as part of the Welcome Back weekend. Lib Dem Town and District Cllr Paul Cruise, one of the driving forces behind the weekend event, commented "Everyone really enjoyed the film with many dancing and singing along to the final chorus. The culmination of lots of planning and hard work came together to make a fantastic event for local residents. The idea was to give the town a boost and the event certainly did that"
The Welcome Back Weekend was a collaborative effort involving Derbyshire Dales District Council in partnership with Matlock Town Council, Northern Light Cinema and Hecate Arts. It has been made possible by the 'Welcome Back Fund', which uses European Regional Development Fund cash provided by the Government to help high streets recover from the pandemic.
