£50 billion 'remain bonus' would save our public services
With just days to go until the General Election, David Lomax wants to see the Lib Dem £50 billion 'remain bonus' save our public services and stop the Tory cuts.
Economists predict that the British economy would be 1.9% bigger if we stop Brexit and stay in the EU - leaving an extra £50 billion to spend over the life of the next Parliament.
The Lib Dems would use the remain bonus to make sure everyone can access high quality mental health care, to fight climate change and to make sure every child can get the best start in life. Lib Dem plans include an extra 20,000 teachers.
David Lomax said, "Stopping Brexit is important for our place in the world but there would also be a huge economic benefit.
"We have all seen the effect of years of Tory cuts on our schools, our NHS and social care, and our police services.
"We have got to stop these Tory cuts that have devastated the vital public services we all treasure and rely on. But only the Lib Dems have a credible economic plan to do so - by stopping Brexit and investing the £50bn remain bonus into these services rather than devastating our economy by leaving the EU.
