A less glamorous set of by-election results… and a Lib Dem win!

There were ten council by-elections this week, seven in Labour held seats and overall giving a good insight into what is happening to the Liberal Democrats outside the small number of seats which have caught the headlines and propelled the net seat gain figures.

In fact the Lib Dem vote share was up in every contested by-election in England, Scotland and Wales. A first for very many years.
