Derbyshire Manifesto
Across the length and breadth of Derbyshire, voters have the opportunity to vote Liberal Democrat on Thursday 4th May.
Nationally the Conservative Government ties itself in knots over how to deliver Brexit. Locally Labour blame every cut on the Conservatives. At all levels the Liberal Democrats are becoming the effective opposition, seeking to drive forward a positive vision that will work for local people.
Following the Brexit vote, it is vital that we all work together and make the best use of everybody's skills and abilities. This is a time for partnership and cooperation. Liberal Democrats will listen to local people, work with charities and not-for-profit organisations to deliver services, and will seek to learn from other areas how to run important services like road repairs more effectively. In the same spirit, Liberal Democrats are proposing to run the Council through committees, giving every councillor a role in guiding the efficient running of Derbyshire.
Across the country, more and more people are responding to this Liberal Democrat vision. Over the last twelve months Liberal Democrats have been the clear winners in council elections nationwide, both at regular elections and by-elections, making substantial gains while both Labour and Conservatives have lost seats.
This new, dynamic vision of partnership needs to flow through the county. Every additional Liberal Democrat elected to Derbyshire County Council helps us deliver this, making Derbyshire a more open, tolerant and united county.
The Derbyshire Liberal Democrats have published a manifesto for these elections setting out our priorities for the county. It can be downloaded here:
