NEW WASTE PLANS: High Peak bins must be emptied as often as they are now

'We have a good household bin service - let's keep it that way' Cllr David Lomax

High Peak Borough Council is currently considering a new contract for bin collection for the next few years. Some councils only collect residents' 'black bins' every three weeks which has resulted in many complaints and people paying privately for extra waste collections.

The Vice Chair of High Peak's Waste SubGroup is Lib Dem Cllr Ray Atkins. This group is considering a new bin contract to replace the current one with Veolia, which ends in 2017. This could involve merging our bin service with neighbouring local authorities like Staffordshire Moorlands and Cheshire East, to save costs.

Whaley Bridge's Councillor David Lomax says "Lib Dems in High Peak have long campaigned to keep weekly bin collections. Residents say we have a good bin service - let's keep it that way"
