A new planning application has been put in for the land between the Hanging Gate and Combs reservoir at Cockyard. The proposal is for 14 'holiday accommodation' units, plus a large site manager's house and two other detached dwellings.

There is strong local opposition. It is another challenge to the Neighbourhood Plan for Chapel, now included in the adopted Local Plan for High Peak, as the site is part of the protected area of Green Space.

"This is the latest move in a long running attempt to build in this important green field area around Combs reservoir, using the excuse of promoting tourism" said LibDem president Barrie Taylor. "The Chapel Neighbourhood Plan should at last give the powers to put an end to these schemes."

As a member and Chair of High Peak Development Control Committee Cllr David Lomax cannot make any comment until it comes before the committee.
